Last year fellow artist Greg Summers challenged his Facebook artist friends to paint a picture "just outside their front door." This year he challenged us again, but now it's a scene within 100ft of our back door. This fit the bill. Painted from a scene 3 feet outside my back door

When we find sleep eluding us and those fence jumping sheep scurrying away over a hill, we lay there, hyper-aware of each tick of the clock and dread how lack of sleep will ruin the coming day. While I lay there on one of those sleepless nights, I glanced out the window as a cold front was moving in. The full moon lit up the waves of clouds. Each one "crashed" over it then rolled by revealing a deep blue field dotted with stars before the next wave. It was beautiful. I went outside and felt the brisk wind and watched the clouds. I went back for the camera to capture the scene with the intention of creating this painting. Thankful that I was one of few people awake to witness the beauty of nature at 1AM.
